More Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes... - 08.19.2011 12:30:45 am
In coming weeks, I'll be working to make the site more suitable for mobile phones (especially smartphones). I'm not entirely sure what this'll involve, but I wanted to let you guys know ahead of time, as there's always a chance of odd site behavior whenever the site is undergoing changes. So yeah, wear sunglasses while visiting the site, just in case I should happen to tinker with the site colors. ![]()
Castlequest (NES) YouTube Feature Started - 02.25.2011 5:14:10 pm
For those who are interested, the Castlequest (NES) YouTube feature is now in progress. I suppose that the most sensible way to go about this one will be to play until I burn through all of my lives, then call it a day for that particular segment.
I must say, Del Duio, that the game isn't as difficult as I was expecting it to be, unless the game pulls a lot of dick moves like the barrel-on-the-conveyor-belt one that I'm assuming I hafta get past.
Free Play Friday: Nanaca Crash - 02.12.2011 6:37:23 pm
Nanaca Crash is probably my all-time favorite Flash game. At a glance, it's very simple, but it offers a lot of depth once you learn the ins and outs of its game play mechanics. You start by making a little girl run into a bystander on her bike in order to determine the angle and speed of his initial trajectory. From there, you'll use a couple different types of boosts, both limited in some way, to keep the bystander moving as long a distance as possible. You'll generally want to avoid having the bystander hit other male bystanders, instead directing him toward the female bystanders, most of whom give the bystander in flight a much-needed boost.

The title screen looks innocent enough.

Launch the bystander at a low angle with high power so he'll travel further faster.

Most female bystanders give the bystander you've hit an extra boost...

...with the exception being Misato (unless her Special is active).
If you'd like to give the game a shot, then you can play it in your browser by going here.
Free Play Friday: Truck Dismount - 01.21.2011 10:18:58 pm
Truck Dismount may not be much of a looker, but it offers surprising depth given how simple it looks at first glance. Basically, prior to the "dismount" of a passenger from a truck, you adjust various sliders to change the speed of the truck, as well as whether or not either of two ramps are present. You can also changes the positions of the passenger and ramps. The goal is to cause as much bodily harm to the passenger as possible, with each section of his body reddening as more harm is caused.

There's certainly not much in the way of variety within this game, but it can definitely steal time away like games with more length and variety to them. If you'd like to give the game a shot, then you can download it (as well as similar games) here.
Cell Phones Forum Closed - 01.20.2011 10:17:26 am
I've closed the Cell Phones forum and deleted any posts other than the first post in the NAM2 thread. The forum simple drove too many new registrations by users who had no intention of posting more than a few times, and cell phone forums have this way of attracting excessive spam, as well. Sure, other forums can attract spam, as well, but the difference here is that I have more of an ability to identify spam without basing my decision to ban a user solely on how a potential spam post looks. I've edited the NAM2 tutorial to inform visitors to not register solely to ask questions in the cell phone forum, since that forum is unusable by anyone aside from myself.
Super Meat Boy! Soundtracks - 01.13.2011 12:39:55 am
I'm generally not one to buy CD's anymore, but when I saw this, I just had to get it. (It certainly doesn't hurt that you get an immediately downloadable copy to listen to, as well.) If you've never played Super Meat Boy!, then you're cheating yourself of both an incredible game play experience and an incredible auditory experience. In my opinion, this game has one of the most incredible soundtracks of this console generation, and you should treat yourself to it even if you don't happen to own the game.

Here's one of my personal favorite tracks:
You can get the Double CD Special Edition here, or you can get the original version here. No, they're not free, but they're worth every penny. Do yourself a huge favor and buy one of them. You won't regret it.
Update Regarding YouTube Projects - 01.12.2011 12:35:38 am
My audio capturing setup, as well as my camcorder setup, is now complete. The only things that're keeping me from posting any new YouTube projects for the time being are receiving my SCART-to-HDMI converter/upscaler and verifying that my encoding settings are adequate for both the initial rendering and YouTube's processing. Since the converter/scaler is shipping from China, it's very likely that I won't have it for another week or two. Plus, I need all of the accompanying cables that should be arriving within the same time frame.
In the meantime, I'm still accepting ideas for new features for both YouTube and kevinski.com. Just be sure to post your suggestions in the respective threads, just as we've been doing up until this point. Post your YouTube feature suggestions here and your kevinski.com feature suggestions here.
Free Play Friday: Ninja Senki - 01.07.2011 2:10:22 pm
I must say that Ninja Senki was quite the surprise. At a glance, it looks like something that you'd play on Game Gear. In fact, in terms of simplicity, this game probably could - to an extent - be played on a Game Gear. Its control scheme consists of three buttons (Throw, Jump and Start), and the game play mechanics are simple. Still, there's a lot of depth to how you use the limited abilities that you have at your disposal, but the game never really seems like it's unfairly overwhelming.
Still, the game's very difficult, and you won't be able to blame your many deaths on inadequate controls. The game reminds me a lot of the Mega Man games on NES, as the game plays very similarly. While I don't care much for the original Mega Man series, I must say that this game - despite its similarities - controls far better than any of the games in the original Mega Man series. That's really what makes me enjoy this game, and the lack of legitimately unfair deaths (based on what I've played of the game) should keep you playing through until the end in an effort to see just what the game will throw at you next.

Wow, Game Gear-esque title screen, anyone?

"You'd better run, bitch!"
You can download the game here.
