Godhand

Well this is really just a random post because Im bored right now. I've been playing this game alot lately and was wondering if any of you guys have played it. For those that dont know what it is it's basicly a button mashing beat em' up with a bit of comedy thrown in.

The basic plot(With almost no spoilers) is the main character loses an arm and gets the godhand. After that demons start trying to kill him to steal back the godhand. The game is kinda short but its not one of those games you can beat in one sitting. It gets really hard the first play through and it tends to get really frustrating.

I'll try to explain a bit how its played. Basicly all of your movement are done with the analogs. You move with the left and dodge with the right. The D-pad is completely unused in this game. The shoulder buttons are used for special moves, activating the godhand, taunting, and a 180. The attack buttons are X,O,square, and triangle. Your main combo string is set to square. You can add special attacks to triangle, X, and down+ X,Square, and triangle. Its a fairly simplistic game but its still really fun even if you've played through it more than once. The only real downfall to the game in terms of game play is the way your character moves. Although its not really a game killer because you get use to it fairly quick.

Its deffinantly worth checking out if your into beat em up games. Its one of my favorite PS2 games up on the list with God of War. Though in some ways I think this is a bit better than GoW but its mostly because Godhand was more of a challenge.

Re: Godhand

I've heard of it but for some reason the game I thought of when I saw this topic was Gun Limb. In it, the guy has shotguns for arms (and I think for legs too, haha). Some of those indie games are WAY out there. big_smile

Re: Godhand

I remember playing Gun Limb awhile back. I thought it was a pretty fun game for what it was. The game was kinda challenging because of the way you move.

Re: Godhand

Godhand is an excellent example of a game that should appeal to me...but probably won't, because the control scheme just seems like it'd be too complicated for what the game is. Then again, I just want a new Streets of Rage game. tongue

Re: Godhand

Nah, the controls aren't really complicated just a bit weird at first. Like I was saying all your movements are made with one analog. Its one of those games that you'll die alot in though even if you have the controls perfected. It's an older game though so it shouldn't cost to much if you decide to check it out. And I'd love to see a new Streets of Rage also. I found a freeware version that combines all 3 with some different graphic effects and stuff. If you wanna try that I could get you the download link.

Re: Godhand

It seemed a bit harder than the original game to me. Then again I was only like 9 or 10 when I played it lol. Its pretty well made for a freeware though.

Re: Godhand

While it doesn't seem to be complete, I love the fact that they've implemented CPU AI for player two. And I do agree that the game's a good bit more difficult, although I've gotten pretty good at keeping enemies at bay. It's really just a matter of keeping them all on the same side and smacking the living shit out of them with a pipe. XD

Re: Godhand

I didn't know you could play it with a CPU. I usualy just try button mashing, but it doesn't work all that great lol. When I played it I never find weapons until like the 3rd level though.
