Re: Next game for DXF Games: The Outlaw, The Drunk, & The Whore!
Stage 7 is in the books! There's a new enemy that should make things pretty interesting, especially if I sprinkle them into existing levels.
Onto stage 8!

I'm a bit late but if you still need some playtest help I'll be glad to try it out.

Re: Next game for DXF Games: The Outlaw, The Drunk, & The Whore!
Just sent you the e-mail. I took down the test build for the public since it wasn't getting me anywhere and will need to re-compile a new one. Just a few loose ends to tie up and by tomorrow it should be ready to go. I'll have to change the nominclature because today's kids are pretty smart hahaha.

Also, Yoritoshi: I've been trying to add a top 5 score table to the game however the object MMF2 gives you to do this (Hi-Score object) isn't working for me properly so I'm trying to use it in conjuction with an ini file. I'll keep trying because it's a good idea for a game like this.

Yep, that's been fixed since.
I just sent you another e-mail Yoritoshi with a newer build that fixes those frozen snakes and some other stuff. ![]()

I played the game a bit. The music is awesome and its pretty damn challenging which is great. I made it to the 5th stage with the drunk then got my ass kicked lol. I noticed something though the scorpions in stage 5 seem to be a bit bugged. When they try to kamakaze me they wouldn't do any damage or die. They just stayed under the drunks sprite and followed me until I killed them. Other than that I didn't notice any kind of bugs or anything in stage 1-4. If I find anything else I'll let you know though.

-I once cleared Stage 2 without killing the indian who is next to the goal. As i walked to the gate, the indian tried to go after me, but walked into the "purple guy" who guards the gate... KILLING HIM! O_O
-I also wanted to ask, Del Duio, are human enemies weak to traps like poison and tar?

That's because your armor stat was high enough to neutralize the scorpion's attack. Right now what happens is they do zero damage to you but in the scorpion's case they'll still chase you around. I guess that's sort of stupid. What do you think I should do about those guys?
Glad you like the music! I'd like to take credit for making it but this time I wanted to use real western-esque songs so I chose a couple of my favorites + a couple I never heard of before and it worked out well. Stage 7's music is really impressive because somebody had to play that piano like a madman to create it!
The gunfighters make the game a lot more challenging because they're not held to the same firing count as other gunfighters. If you watch you'll see if you're near a group of grey/bluecoats they'll all shoot in unison like a real squad might. Gunfighters go all will nilly with their pistols and if you get 2 or 3 of them together that's about 6 bullets coming at you at different intervals- Which means you're basically going to die unless you get really lucky.

Yep, that's supposed to happen. The Attendant wants you to get in the gate and if any enemy hits his flaming halberd they'll instantly die. It's supposed to be a protective cover of some sort while you get inside.

No, they're not. Only the characters you play as are. The only thing that enemies have bearing on that the players also do are the dynamite boxes and all explosions. Any projectile will damage a dynamite box and anything hit by dynamite or bomb explosions will get hurt big time. Each explosion is made up of 8 firey circles which all do 10 base fire damage. No single enemy can get hit by more than one at a time however a group of enemies can get obliterated by a well-placed bomb. That's also why the drunk isn't overflowing with godly starting stats: His gringo skill's really strong.

Re: Next game for DXF Games: The Outlaw, The Drunk, & The Whore!
Say what???
The only thing I can think of is that the attendant disappeared normally. As soon as you enter the gate he disappears. It was probably just a coincidence that the indian shot him at the same time. The attendant doesn't even hold values like HP or any qualifier so it's not possible for him to get killed any more than an ODW tree is.
Sounds pretty cool though.

Re: Next game for DXF Games: The Outlaw, The Drunk, & The Whore!
Hey kevinski, can you make a board called "ODW Beta Testers" and make it accessible to you, me, Kaluroth, KKA, Yoritoshi, & robot?
I figure we can do our feedback forum and junk there. I have some ideas to go over with everybody and it'd probably be best kept under wraps.

Well that makes me feel a bit stupid XD. I didnt even think about that. You could make it to where if your armor is high enough cancel out the damage but make them still poison you or something if that would work.
I'm gonna try it with the whore next. I started with her and died within 60 seconds. Seems like it'd be pretty hard to win it with her so that should be fun. I should probably try to atleast finish it once before I start trying to make it harder on myself though lol. Oh yeah and I thought that music sounded kinda familiar it fits really well though.

Re: Next game for DXF Games: The Outlaw, The Drunk, & The Whore!
I made some important changes and fixes KKA. Kevinski is going to grant you guys access to our regular ODW development board here and I'll have a thread at the top for this very thing.
The most important change is the way enemy damages are handled now, so that player invunerability can't happen again and cause potential problems.
See you there!
