In a pinch...
Hey guys! I appear to be rather absent minded right now, I can't even remember the plan for my game. Sure, I really do want it to be finished, and I feel as if I have the energy and focus to actually get something done, but I... just don't know how. I completely forgot what my game is supposed to look like. Isn't that weird?
Anyway, does anyone here knows what to do about it?
Thank you in advance!

Re: In a pinch...
I always set aside a lot of notebook space for planning & variable info on anything I make. It will save your ass a lot when it's 2am and you're groggy and cranky and are trying to figure out why something that should work just doesn't. If you have the forethought to write everything down that you want that's great and you can use it for a guide. I can't even do that!
Sorry, I can't tell what exactly it is you're asking. ![]()
Is it a game you already started awhile ago or are you looking to start a brand new one?
EDIT: Good to see you come back, I thought you fell in!

Re: In a pinch...
I tend to doodle various ideas that I have in a notebook. That way, I can think of ways of implementing it into a game (should I ever happen to motivate myself to do so). I'm actually in the process of reading a book about game design theory. Problem is, it's packed up in a box somewhere as a result of my recent move, so that's on hold at the moment.

I think you need to make a game so you can experience all the frustration and headache that comes with it. ![]()

You should make my awesome RPG idea where you can't ever leave the first town due to all the stupid "pre-quests" they have you do. Remember that one? HAHAHAHA.

Yeah, it could parody practical any game whose NPC's are comprised of complete dicks who are more concerned about monetarily or otherwise benefiting from your actions, despite your efforts to do something as silly as saving the entire world from an evil entity.

Yes and NPCs that will stand there all day in front of the armory and block the door when you want to get inside and buy weapons.

Re: In a pinch...
Sorry about the delay.
Perhaps "forget" does not sufficiently describe what I meant. It is more like "last minute rewriting" became painstakingly neccessary, but I don't have any ideas.
So now, whenever I start working on the game, I end up fixing bugs, improving the gameplay, redraw the graphics; all things that NEEDS to be done, but I am still not closer to finishing the game. Still, I am so very close. I can actually taste the finished product, but I need to come up with some ideas.
I am not much of a note- book person, but I shall try and draw one of them mind- maps, and see if it helps.
The RPG idea sounds hilarious. What happens in the end? Is the town/world destroyed? Or will he just be walking around in circles?
I had another RPG idea where you start off as an NPC in an imaginary MMORPG.

Re: In a pinch...
I can't disclose what exactly happens in the RPG but I drew up a whole thead about it before and it was pretty funny. It has.... an unexpected ending for sure.
I'm adding to my games all the time, graphically or otherwise. They always say you should get the engine down first and go from there. Sometimes if I spend too much time on one thing I'll get sick of the whole game altogether. I remember one game (it never got made BTW) where I spent about a week just drawing up the hero and NPC sprites. Then when it came time to do other stuff I just didn't want to do anymore with it.
What I'm doing now works really well. I just work on my project whenever I really want to and never force the issue anymore. That'll just make you sick of it and it might never get made. Doing it my way increases the time your game will be ready by a lot though, so you'll have to be prepared for that. Especially if you're 90 years old. Good luck getting that thing finished, gramps!
