There's a user on YouTube named genuinescorruption who's blind and managed to play games that - as far as I can tell - don't seem to be specifically playable by the blind. While a lot of people seem to doubt that he's blind, it's not hard to believe when you watch his videos. I'd say that memorization plays a huge part, although he played through LoZ:OoT with the assistance of other YouTubers who gave him specific instructions on how to direct himself.

There are vids of him playing CotM, as well, which made me somewhat skeptical. Thing is, I can understand through analyzing the vids how he'd determine certain things, such as where he can go or whether or not an enemy's attacking. Definitely check out his vids.
