Funny/Horrible Things That Happened at School/Work

Let's share funny and/or horrible things that happened whenever we were at school or work. Obviously, it's probably a good idea to not be too specific if it's something that you might get yourself (or somebody else) into trouble with. I'll start with a few of my own...

- I once made the mistake of asking what was wrong when a customer said that he wasn't doing well. He was getting rid of his dogs that day, because he was moving to a place where he couldn't have pets. It turns out that he was moving because his house burnt down, and his fiancée died in the fire.

- I used to take ridiculously long lunches at one of my jobs in order to play The House of the Dead 4 at a nearby restaurant. The restaurant staff started cranking up the difficulty, because I was eventually able to beat the game with only two credits.

- One of my co-workers once collapsed at her cash register. I called for a manager, then turned on the light at my own register and started ringing up customers' orders without showing any concern.

- One of my managers thought that me and some other co-workers were gambling at work. We were just playing Magic: The Gathering.

- One time, one of my managers broke two of another manager's ribs while giving him a bear hug.

Hahaha, does anybody else think this is really funny too?

Hmmm..

I had a buddy of mine pull the chair out from under me before in the school cafeteria. Did I mention this was the first day of high school?

I once called this lady "sir" while at a register because it was almost midnight and I was tired. She was pretty mad haha. She didn't look like a guy at all which was probably why she didn't punch me.

I also once had this guy reach over and pull the register tape out of my machine because he was in a hurry. He then started screaming at me once I said he can't do that, saying "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY I MAKE!?" I pissed him off a lot because I was saying "Wow, that's great! I hope one day I can be as sucessful as you!" Nothing gets them more mad than that I guess. Then he grabbed his bag and ran to complain about me to the manager- and he left his $40 bottle of cologne behind, which I threw in the trash.

I asked this lady with an english accent if she was from England and she got really pissed because she was from Australia. Apparently they don't get along, whoops!

And a bunch of other ones that won't make the internet.

Hahahaha...actually, I was famous amongst the staff there for a long time after I left because of that. One day, I walked in and ran into one of the girls whom I used to work with. She was like, "Oh my God! Kevin, we were just talking about you the other day! You know, when Bee passed out!" Good times. XD

I pulled a chair out from under some other kid in my class at a new school that I'd just started at. We had this in-class currency that we could later use to buy prizes. I suppose that it was for good behavior or something, because I didn't have a whole lot left after that incident.

Ugh...I fucking hate people like that. Nice work on throwing away his cologne, though. XD

A customer once asked me if I was from Austria based on how I speak. Weird.

Re: Funny/Horrible Things That Happened at School/Work

You ever been to a seafood restaurant - for example, Long John Silvers - during Lent?  Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes during that period?  We had just four fryers and cases of fish literally to the ceiling.  No time to do anything besides put the fish in the fryer and move down the line so that someone else could follow behind you and pull it out when it was done.  One register.  Line of customers out the door and half a mile down Rt 41 and sometimes around the corner at Rt 30.  McDonalds was pissed cuz when people are standing in line they only focus on the person in front of them, and this line of people blocks their driveway.  Having to tell people sitting in the lobby of a fast food restaurant  that they will be waiting upwards of 30-45 minutes to get their food.  Being 15 and not understanding religion makes you laugh when you see all these old people bumrushing the counter with ashes smeared across their faces, and then you get a couple sermons/lectures.

I once had a customer come in and want to order right as I was getting ready to close up for the night.  Manager said to let her in and take her order, so I did.  Customer was pissed when I told her it would take ~10 minutes to get everything back out and make it all from scratch, insisted on just having what was leftover but there was none.  Then she starts ranting about getting her food for free, knowing the district manager, having everyone in the store fired.... I told her that my hands were tied cuz A) I'm just a grunt and B) when a restaurant is closing for the day they don't hurry and make more food to just sit all night.  Customer started going into a frenzy and my manager came out and rescued me by offering customer free food.  customer accepts, manager went in back and returned after a minute with a box of frozen fish and uncooked fries and batter, customer leaves.  Next day the store manager asks me what happened, and when I told her the story she laughed her ass off and gave me and the other manager a raise.

Re: Funny/Horrible Things That Happened at School/Work

Hahahaha...I just thought of some of the funny stuff that happened at my intership while I was still attending college...

- I made the mistake of rearranging my boss' Start menu. It was three or four menus wide, and I couldn't take it anymore. I knew that the shit was about to hit the fan when I heard him say, "Where's PowerPoint?! It was RIGHT HERE!!"

- My boss once flipped out because I was continuously moving my mouse pointer back and forth across the animated navigation bar that I was in the process of designing.
