Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

I donīt know how you guys do it, but I canīt just leave a game unfinished, except when they entirely suck and I loose interest, the only ones I own and havenīt finished for this reason are sadly two ps3 games, Conan and Assassinīs Creed... I never imagined such a hyped game as the later one would suck so much. yikes

The downside to Assassin's Creed is that there really aren't any serious consequences for your actions. I mean, it's very open, but the enemies are such douchebags that there's no incentive to avoid contact with them. Plus, it's annoying having to move slowly on the horse to avoid attracting attention. And yes, this is one of the nearly 600 games that I own. XD

I recently counted my games. I have about ten shy of 600 games, and I'd be surprised if I've even finished fifty of them. Needless to say, I've got some catching up to do. XD

First of all holy damn thats alotta games. I mean I have between 150-200 but damn lol. I tend to not buy games that I think will suck though so they usualy either get beaten a day or 2 after I get them. Or I play them a few times then put it up for a year or 2 then come back to it. For some reason though I tend to play games I've beaten numerous times more than ones I haven't.

Add to those reasons the insane monotony, the useless abilities you get from completing missions (e.g. in mission 5 or so you get the ability to dodge by pressing letīs say "a" at the right moment, BUT since the beginning you have the ability to counter and instantly kill the enemy by pressing "b" at the exact same moment... wtf?) and the fact the whole game is a huge tutorial itself, they give you the exact position viewpoints, the enemies you have to mug, kill, etc... and they tell you everytime how it must be done.

And yeah quite a few games you got there, you should do some AVGN style reviews, with those many games Iīm sure at least 5 or 6 must suck. XD

Well, not to spoil anything, but given the approach that was taken as to WHY you're assassinating all of these people and how everything unfolds, I'd say that it makes sense that you're told what to do.

I've seen too many people who are nothing like AVGN being compared to him, so I'd prefer to do nothing even remotely close to mimicking his style. I'd rather do far more constructive reviews.

Oh man, I have so many games I've bought but never finished. I used to be just like you back in the NES / SNES days- buy something, play it until I've won it, buy something else. I haven't even beat OoE yet and I've had that forever! (Though I'm at the last save before Dracula if that helps any.) So let's see: Recently we have OoE, Metal Slug 7, Dragon Quest 4 Chapters of the Chosen, The Dark Spire, and even Advance Wars Days of Ruin that I haven't won yet. There's not a lot of games that hold my interest for very long anymore though. Castlevania DoS and PoR were interesting enough so I wanted to finish them but not much else lately has.

Looks like the days of Super Metroid are long gone.*

Thats just wrong man. Games wouldnt be the same without Super Metroid. Is there a good reason you dont like the series or was it just to hard for you. XD

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

The older games in the series just had this emphasis on back-tracking, which I found annoying. I mean, it's not as though you didn't hafta back-track in SotN, but it wasn't to the same extent, and teleporters sped things up considerably, anyway. In the 3D installments of the series, the level design is simply ridiculous. While I do realize that video games are allowed to take liberties as far as realism is concerned, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, as an example, so appalls me in terms of its level design that I eventually just stopped playing it. Sure, the game controls pretty well as far as the shooting goes, but I can't stomach how idiotic the level design is.

Plus, the controls are inconsistent. As I said before, the movement and shooting works fine, but it's silly that activating a switch with motion controls somehow manages to be more involved than taking out a roomful of enemies. And don't even get me started on the shitty grapple controls during boss battles.

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

I've never actually played the 3D games in the series. There were times when I was gonna buy them but decided to get something else instead. They need to bring back the 2D in my opinion.

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

Yeah I enjoy the 2d Metroids a lot more than the 3d ones. I don't have corruption but Prime & Echoes. They're okay, it's just not the same thing.

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

I remember playing Prime once, it wasnt terrible, but yeah it wasnt the same as the 2D games. Metroid would probably do better if they brought back the 2D games. The last really good ones were Fusion and Zero Mission for GBA though.

They're releasing all three as a trilogy for Wii. And yes, the first two have reworked controls. I might buy it. Why, I don't know. Maybe I enjoy swearing at my television.

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

Dont we all like doing that at some point in our life? If I have some money I'll probably get it. That probably wont be for awhile though. I bought the new Punch Out!! earlier and the next game I'll probably buy is the new Red Faction. Then I'll probably buy a few more box sets of anime lol.

The nice thing about the trilogy is that it'll only cost as much as a single game, apparently. As for the new Punch-Out!!, I honestly can't see it justifying anywhere close to full price for a game. It looks decent, but I could never see myself paying more than $29.99 for it.

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

It was worth it if your a fan of the original. They made alot of the people an assload harder. And you have to fight everyone twice. Second time their alot harder though because they change their patterns and have some kind of way to guard their weak point. As for the price I think 50$ is to damn much for any wii game.

I dunno...some of them are worth it. I mean, c'mon...No More Heroes, anyone? That game's just bad-ass.

Re: Trapt for PlayStation 2

Metroid Prime was awesome IMO.  Echoes was..... I dunno.  I get it that you have this dual-planet thing going on and that will require some old-school backtracking, but did it really need such quantities?

I have heard nothing but good things about Trapt.  Most of what I have heard says it was the best in the series.  In our house we kinda went NES>Genesis>N64>PSX>PS2>GC>360 so I suppose I missed out on a few good titles here and there, especially considering my brother was a jackass that liked to sell everything we had to fuel his habits.  Right now the 'cube is sitting next to me without a TV and the 360 lives in his room since he has the only HDTV in the house.

Thankfully I have emulation and know where to get decent dumps for most of what I want.
